Resp tract infection except pneumonia caused by Staph (FC caplet), Strep (inj), skin & soft tissue infection, bone & joint infection. FC caplet: GIT infection including typhoid & paratyphoid; UTI except prostatitis, urethritis, cervicitis, gonorrhoea. Inj: UTI including prostatitis, urethritis, cervicitis, gonorrhea, GI infections, typhoid fever due to S. typhi.
Dosage/Direction for Use
GIT infections 500 mg twice daily. UTI Mild to moderate infection: 250 mg twice daily. Severe infections: 500 mg twice daily. Skin & soft tissue infections 500 mg twice daily. Resp tract, bone & joint, skin & soft tissue infections 750 mg twice daily. Acute gonorrhoea 250 mg as single dose. Acute osteomyelitis 750 mg twice daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to minimise GI discomfort. Do not take w/ antacids, Fe or dairy products.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin, quinolones or any component of Quinobiotic IV. Juveniles. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn & adolescent <18 yr.
Special Precautions
FC caplet: Elderly; CNS damage, epilepsy. Inj: Adjustment of dose is needed in patients w/ impaired kidney functions.
Adverse Reactions
GI complaints, CNS disorders. FC caplet: Musculoskeletal, CV & other reactions. Very rarely, pseudomembranous colitis, convulsions, psychotic & other CNS reactions, SJS, photosensitivity; transient hearing loss. Inj: Skin reactions, transient increase of liver enzyme especially in patients who have experienced liver damage.
